‘Fresh Window’ explored the close links between the histories of art and shop window display, revealing the rich seam of artistic contributions in this area. This exhibition at the Tinguely Museum presents a deeply researched survey reaching back to the early 20th century with contributions from Berenice Abbott, Marina Abramović, Atelier E.B. (Beca Lipscombe & Lucy McKenzie), Eugène Atget, Peter Blake, Christo, Gregory Crewdson, Vlasta Delimar, Sari Dienes, Marcel Duchamp, Elmgreen & Dragset, Richard Estes, Anna Franceschini, Kit Galloway & Sherrie Rabinowitz, R.I.P. Germain, Sayre Gomez, Ion Grigorescu, Nigel Henderson, Lynn Hershman Leeson, María Teresa Hincapié, Jasper Johns, John Kasmin, François-Xavier Lalanne, Bertrand Lavier, Martina Morger, Robert Rauschenberg, Martha Rosler, Giorgio Sadotti, Tschabalala Self, Johnnie Shand Kydd, Sarah Staton, Iren Stehli, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Jean Tinguely, Goran Trbuljak, Andy Warhol, Jiajia Zhang.

Within this context, Sarah Staton presented a sculptural display structure that continued to develop the SupaStore series. The work functioned simultaneously as sculpture and exhibition architecture, hosting works by a group of contemporary artists and exploring the relationship between object, frame and viewing position.

The project aligned SupaStore with a wider institutional conversation around display culture. By bringing the language of shop windows and vitrines into the museum environment, Staton’s work highlighted how modes of commercial presentation continue to influence exhibition making.

During its run from December 2024 to May 2025 the exhibition attracted over 55,000 visitors, situating SupaStore within a broader international discussion around the aesthetics and politics of display.
